The Man In the Billionaire Tower

The elite can’t comprehend that many (if not most) Americans believe the promise that “if you work hard and play by the rules, then the sky’s the limit” has been broken by greed and corruption. And for some, that promise was never really felt true. The party that can tap give voice to that frustration will win in 2020 and beyond.

I’ll Believe It When I See It

What a shitty deal maker that guy is. I’m also hesitant to put much weight in this story, since Trump has proven to be an unreliable source regarding what Trump will actually do and what bills he’d actually sign. We probably won’t know until the junta at Fox News gets to weigh in on the bill.

The Shutdown of Broken Dreams

Day 32 of the Government Shutdown and the Terrible Outcomes and Worse Outcomes to come are still rolling in. Today, The New York Times exposes the glaring negligence of the Trump administration’s housing, homelessness, and anti-poverty programs. Currently, 95% of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) federal workers are not working, which means a loss in…

American Kakistocracy, Day 725

Is it any surprise that an addled old man who watches nothing but Fox News overestimated Nancy Pelosi’s unpopularity among House Democrats? Granted, he wouldn’t be the first person to buy into the belief that everyone outside of pinko San Francisco hates the House Speaker with the heat of 10,000 suns. But most people I know who believe Pelosi can’t hold onto the House either thought Jill Stein was a viable alternative to Hillary Clinton or think “Saving Private Ryan” was a masterpiece.

The “Long Realignment” Continues….Part One

It was a #BlueWave … no it was a #BlueRipple … it was a #RainbowWave …. it was a #CamouflageWave … it was none of those things, and all of those things. In the sense that it was none of those things, the 2018 Midterms represented what has traditionally happened in midterms, especially the first…

A Nation of Strangers

Earlier this spring while speaking with educators and mentors of mine who were visiting New York City from my hometown in the midwest, a voice called out to me “you live here?” “Yes, ma’am, I do”, I replied. A politeness that does not leave me just because I’m in Urbania now, which is filled with…

All Hands on Deck at The People’s Summit

The 2017 People’s Summit was a meeting of committed grassroots organizers and activists, leaders and followers in Chicago, IL. The land of Lincoln and home to the birth place of the last successful third party movement that went on to replace on of the major political parties in our binary system.

Safe For Work Links To Kill Time At Work

Happy Friday! Where to start, where to start? How about a Political Parrots teaser? While there are questions about what President Trump’s transition team knew and when – now we know what Vice President Pence is busy working on. By the way “transition team” is code for Vice President Mike Pence. Bloomberg Speaking of Pence…Did Sixpence…

Welcome to Thunderdome

“Ladies and gentlemen. Boys and Girls. Dying Time is Here…” — Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome By Justin Norris As we watch the slowing moving car crash that is the Trump administration, and as we watch the GOP in Congress react to said car crash, it is important to remember a few important points. First, Trump was never…

This Week on the Interwebs

Beginning a new regular-to-semi-regular series on this website, an internet and news of the week round-up that will be graph-laden and told in a very ad-hoc manner. For the article and commentary news round-up, Pat Meacham has you covered. Depending on your perspective, this week was either the beginning of Watergate Part II (dir. by…

The Margin of Error – Episode 20 “1! 2! Ah-1, 2, 3, 4!” with Troy Olson

The first of what hopefully are many weekly (bi-monthly) updates promoting the latest episode of the excellent podcast The Margin of Error co-hosted by Allan Branstiter and Carson Starkey. In the future this website will be shamelessly, unapologetically, and proudly posting and promoting each episode, along with Bruce Springsteen music, and Jimmy Buffett retirement communities….

The Tragedy in Aleppo and the Assassination of the Russian Ambassador.

In the midst of the U.S. Presidential Election this year, nearly everyone in the media, and far too many Americans, have ignored the humanitarian catastrophe that is currently unfolding its latest tragic chapter in Syria. The city of Aleppo, which one or more candidates for the highest office in the land, were clueless about,…
